Economics is a social science subject that studies how man makes use of his relatively scarce endowment of resources to meet the need of man in the society. For a developing economy faced with serious resource constraints, optimal resource utilization is necessary if it is to develop. Economics department offers courses leading to the award of a Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Economics.

PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The objective of the degree programme is to train economists who are capable of tackling the problems of the economy through the application of economic theory and analysis. Economic research is therefore an important objective of the programme. It is designed to facilitate the learning, teaching, and research in economics.
